Marquardt goes global with the iTAC.MES.Suite2009-03-19 10:00:00 Marquardt, the world-wide leading manufacturer of electromechanical und electronic switches and switching systems, has acquired an enterprise licence for iTAC Software’s iTAC.MES.Suite. The production software is to be deployed as the core manufacturing execution system (MES) across the Marquardt Group’s 9 production locations.
Marquardt initially deployed iTAC’s MES solution during 2006 in the SMT
production of electronic switching systems, ensuring satisfaction of the demanding
customer requirements for complete traceability in the development and
manufacture of automotive electronics.
For Marquardt, a number of factors were deemed critical in selecting the iTAC.MES.Suite; Firstly, the iTAC solution offered an all-encompassing function portfolio and the necessary flexibility, whereby an integrated process optimization can be ideally implemented with best costing to usage consideration. Secondly, the iTAC MES solution fits exactly into the strategic fields of zero fault production, adherence to delivery deadlines and the just-in-time principle (JIT) – which are uppermost in the Marquardt Group’s company philosophy. ”The iTAC solution is one of the most advanced MES solutions on the market today - and the iTAC.MES.Suite has proven its value in practice too” said Helmut Gerlach, Manager for Information Systems in the Marquardt Group. A third key criteria for Marquardt was iTAC’s approach to delivering standardized interfaces in the iTAC.MES.Suite. Thanks to the API interfaces, all machines can communicate with one another, irrespective of manufacturer and age - significant factor in the assembly of homogeneous infrastructures and future plant investments. In parallel, the standardized ERP adapter offers extensive integration with the inventory control system / ERP, at Marquardt with SAP, hence safeguarding transparency through goods receipt.
