traceability / active traceability (TR)

One of the most important reasons for introducing MES software is to achieve greater transparency of complex production processes. Standards, such as DIN ISO, VDA, QS 9000 ZVEI and many more, which define the basis for quality assurance in production processes, requirements from the OEMs as well as the increasing product liability for suppliers make traceability a main issue.

In this module, the participants learn how to continuously trace products as individual items or as containers in real-time with the help of the iTAC.MES.Suite – from the raw material to the packed product, from the supplier to the customer.

The core of this training is the functional basis of the iTAC.MES.Suite, the “active traceability” characterized by iTAC. This is very different from the customary traceability (passive traceability e.g. VDA5005), which can only be used for documentation of production processes and mounted material lots.

The participants also learn how interlocking single processes and work steps can minimize the production of faulty products.

Further important topics include:

• Allocation of all components of a product to one serial number with corresponding parameters and possible preferences within the iTAC.MES.Suite.
• Serial-number related central data storage (Device History Record - DHR and Device Master Record - DMR).
• Work methods and applications of an MDA module (Manufacturing Data Administration) and lot traceability.
