SmartFactoryKL controls intelligent Industry 4.0 plant with MES from iTAC
Manufacturing Execution System enables traceability and analysis of processes in research and demonstration plants
The SmartFactoryKL uses the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) from iTAC Software AG as a core technology of its plant. As a manufacturer-independent demonstration and research platform, the SmartFactoryKL develops Industry 4.0-enabled factory systems. iTAC’s MES contributes to the transparency and efficiency within the intelligent processes. The solution ensures traceability and bridges the gap between the production and planning level.
The technology initiative SmartFactoryKL e.V. is a non-profit
association that was founded in 2005 in order to realize Industry 4.0 research
and development projects. The network consists of well-known actors from
industry and research, who work together on new concepts, standards and
solutions that form the basis for a highly-flexible automation technology.
Together with 18 renowned industry partners, the SmartFactoryKL
has realized a manufacturer-independent, realistic research and demonstration
plant. This platform serves as a test environment for new technologies, control
architectures and components: hereby, system components and control system
elements from a wide range of manufacturers can be integrated, tested and
further developed in the context of prototype testing and pilot projects.
A key technology of this intelligent Industry 4.0
system is the iTAC.MES.Suite. The Manufacturing Execution System from iTAC has
a high level of standardization and consolidates heterogeneous
production-related software solutions into one single package. In this way, it
links the ERP/PLM and the machines or plants. With functionalities such as
active traceability (traceability including process interlocking) the MES
allows high transparency and increases the quality of products with the
objective of zero ppm. In addition, the system provides important key figures,
enabling optimization and planning processes in the intelligent factory.
